Unmissable Mom Essentials: Hospital Bag Bliss!

by | Jan 22, 2024 | Hospital Bag, Newborn Essentials, Pregnancy Journey

Hello there, welcome back to my blog!Β

Today, I’m excited to spill the beans on what went into my hospital bag and the baby bag, the hits and misses, and all the little details you might want to consider. And just a heads up, one of my upcoming blogs will feature all the links to the baby gear I bought before and after birth – because let’s be real, there’s always that stuff you buy β€œjust in case.”

Now, I knew I’d be in the hospital for at least two nights due to a previous health issue. Well I wasn’t in a rush to pack my mommy bag until my water started leaking slightly.

First things first, let’s talk about what I packed for myself. Given that it was summer, I opted for 2 oversized T-shirt type pajamas – comfort was key (https://amzn.to/490iR54). Slippers that I could wear with socks (https://amzn.to/48HJgF1), a toiletry bag(https://amzn.to/3SruAE8) featuring shower gel, intimate shower gel, intimate wipes, a bidet sprayer (a game-changer!), face cleanser, maternity pads, a bunch of hairbands, a towel, my trusty little pillow, earbuds (https://amzn.to/3So1Ax0), a speaker for those labor tunes(https://amzn.to/47IimeO), my iPhone(https://amzn.to/3vJOL7q), a summer robe, 4 maternity pants, 4 underwear, 2 nursing bras, postpartum shorts, a phone charger, phone holder(https://amzn.to/48HCoY3): lifesaver when your hands are full with the baby, and you still want to show them off hands-free, deodorant, toothbrush(https://amzn.to/3O8er3W) and toothpaste, tissues, and my favorite snacks. Oh, and because I’m a bit particular, I brought my own cutlery set, coffee mug, water bottle (https://amzn.to/3Ht8Std), and some antibacterial wipes – you know, just in case.

For my hubby, I packed a round of comfy clothes, a towel, slippers, his pillow for the waiting game, and, of course, a set of clothes for when it was time to head home.

Let’s dive into the goodies stashed in my little one’s baby bag, starting with the baby changing bag. I initially had one that came with my travel system, but it was a crossbody bag, and carrying it around was a bit of a nightmare. Luckily, my bestie gifted me another one, and let me tell you, it’s been awesome. I highly recommend mine – it’s a backpack. Super easy to carry, offers better packing space, and has more pockets to keep things organized. It’s been a game-changer for me, making outings with the little one much smoother. So, if you’re on the lookout for a baby bag, a backpack is the way to go! (https://amzn.to/4b8f33m)

I packed 3 rounds of newborn sleepsuits (https://amzn.to/47JJv0Z): I wanted to share a little nugget of wisdom that proved to be a game-changer for me – zipper sleepers! If there’s one recommendation I can’t stress enough, it’s to include zipper sleepers in your baby bag.

The ensemble continued with size 1 diapers, three newborn hats, mittens, Bepanthen rash cream, and a bottle(https://amzn.to/3Tki0HQ). Adding to the thoughtful selection, Pampers sensitive wet wipes(https://amzn.to/3HoANKS), a colostrum collector, and three generously sized muslins for swaddling or offering a cozy touch completed the array.

Drawing from personal experience, here’s an extra tidbit of wisdom – when it comes to wet wipes, Pampers is the undisputed champion. After experimenting with various brands, Pampers consistently stood out for being adequately moist, a small yet significant detail enhancing the baby care routine.

However, there were a couple of things I missed. A case of infant milk, which the hospital graciously provided, but I ended up needing more than I expected. Note to self: size 0 diapers are a must, as size 1 can be a bit too roomy in those first days. Oh, and don’t forget a pen to tick off your chosen food from the hospital menu – essential! And, of course, a drink from my favorites would have been nice (thankfully, my partner came to the rescue with a few).

As you embark on your unique parenting journey, consider these thoughtfully chosen essentials for your baby bag. Embrace the simplicity of zipper sleepers, a tiny detail that can make your early days together even more delightful.

Next blog’s in the works! We covered baby bags briefly, but get ready for the birth sagaβ€”it’s dropping soon. Pumped to share this journey, your support rocks. Stay tuned for updates! πŸš€
